Youth Empowerment Services (YES)

Youth
Empowerment Services Program offers opportunities for youth to engage
in outdoor and recreational activities to the degree with which they
are comfortable. Weekly skills building groups are presented to youth
from ages 8 - 24 with the intent of enhancing self-confidence,
communication skills, social skills and community development.
The goal of the YES Program is to equip youth with the skills ability
to function at a healthy level in traditional after school programs,
educational settings and their home environments. In addition, the
program aims to strengthen family bonds, provide education on accessing
community resources, and promote personal growth and higher
functionality through safe and intentional challenges, and mastery of
skills presented during groups. Examples of activities:
- Rock Climbing and Knot Tying
- Canoeing and Navigation
- Hiking and Species Identification
- Whitewater Rafting
- Challenge Course and Team Building Activities
- Gardening and Horticulture
- Camping and Backpacking
- Community Service Projects
- And many other leisure and outdoor/recreation based
activities
